1999 CLUB MODEL - XK180 Concept Car

The JMC Jaguar XK180 model produced in 1999 was the first year we approached someone to sign the models bases, I telephoned Jaguar Cars and spoke with Gary Albrighton of the SVO Department ( Special Vehicles Operations ). Gary was the Project Manager on the XK180 Jaguar, from the very first telephone call he was a great help and agreed to sign the bases, he also kindly organised the signature of Keith Helfet, who was the Chief Designer on the XK180 project. Not satisfied with just the signatures !!, I asked Gary if he could supply the paint code used on the real car to spray our models ( the XK180 is painted in Teal Gold which is a very expensive flip-mica paint which changes colour from metallic Green, through Gold to metallic Blue ). Gary Albrighton didn't supply the code, but went one better, giving me the actual paint left over from painting the real car, he also supplied off-cuts of the Green and Cream leather used to trim the XK180's interior. Each of the 50 JMC models is now proudly sprayed with the Teal Gold paint, mounted on a base signed by Gary and Keith and is supplied with a small piece of Green and Cream leather from the real car. Both Gary and Keith were presented with a built model by the JMC on a special base as a thank you for signing the bases.
